TL;DR
“AI can’t act” has been a solid argument for why AI can’t be used in video commercials.
Except maybe now it can.
At Google I/O last week, they announced a slew of new product releases including an upgrade to their video generator Veo 3. Check this out.
Veo 3 Prompt:
A medium shot frames an old sailor, his knitted blue sailor hat casting a shadow over his eyes, a thick grey beard obscuring his chin. He holds his pipe in one hand, gesturing with it towards the churning, grey sea beyond the ship’s railing. “This ocean, it’s a force, a wild, untamed might. And she commands your awe, with every breaking light”
The Result?
Veo 3 – Google’s new state-of-the-art video generation model, designed to empower filmmakers and storytellers.
Less than 12 months ago, experts were rightfully challenged by AI’s frame to frame inconsistency. Speech and sound effects weren’t great. Imperfections like those made it easy to spot the deepfake.
Here’s a nice summary from a Reddit user just 7 months ago.
Videos like these appear to prove that many of those issues have been resolved. Have a look at these AI-generated people at a non-existent car show.
The “end of…” type rants are rarely accurate. Mediums change and evolve, but rarely go extinct. Creativity is still more important than ever and it’s an exciting time to reimagine the infinite possibilities now available at our advertising fingertips.
