Job Description 

Summary

GFL Environmental is a North American company with over 140 facilities across Canada and the United States. As a key member of the Community Engagement Team and the broader North American Marketing Team, you will rely on your exceptional organization and project management skills, marketing background and community engagement expertise to provide administrative, strategic and hands-on support on a wide variety of initiatives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Job Duties

  • Responsible for the coordination, tactical execution, and day-to-day administration of the Full Circle Project and other community engagement initiatives and events that make up the Community Engagement Plan.
  • Assists in the identification of strategic community involvement initiatives to pursue and assist in the coordination and execution of GFL’s charitable initiatives and sponsorships.
  • Assists with the development of the Community Engagement Plan, including gathering and compiling research that supports the development of the plans.
  • Builds relationships with the operational team across the company’s North American footprint. Including introducing newly acquired companies to the Full Circle Project. Provides guidance and collects relevant information to provide to the FCP Committee.
  • Attendance at events, as needed in the future, as events and business operations return to normal.
  • Ordering promo materials or coordinating marketing materials for events or community engagement initiatives.
  • Working alongside the marketing team to produce content to promote community engagement initiatives for various channels, including social media and the company’s interweb.
  • Assist with the tracking of budget spend for areas of accountability, keeping regularly updated with progress and deviation against budget.
  • Provide regular reporting of results against agreed measures.

Requirements

  • Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of online media (i.e. blogging, social media sites)
  • Exceptional project and time management skills with the ability to remain well-organized. Able to juggle frequently changing priorities and deadlines. Previous experience with project management software an asset.
  • Relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication, written, verbal skills, and listening skills
  • Detail focused
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Proven analytical, research, and report writing skills
  • Ability to work well independently, but not afraid to be highly collaborative and demonstrate team leadership abilities to get projects and priorities completed
  • Creative and resourceful with a strong sense of initiative
  • Natural born storyteller who loves to engage with people and share those stories
  • Bilingual in French/English an asset
  • Must be willing to travel (in the future as events and business return to normal)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Commerce with a Marketing focus preferred, with at least 3 years of relevant experience
