An 18 year old Marketing Agency Redefines Itself Under New, Scrappier Ownership


Forest fires repeat cycles of creation and destruction. Out of the destruction of fire, forests spring young trees, new stronger spices and a clean slate for growth. Clearing the old and making way for the new. This is much the same in the world of advertising. The “fire” of Covid-19 has had a significant impact, especially with the larger, old-school agency model*. In its place, a new creative eco-system has been created – one in which the new owners of Trigger believe that agile, nimble, scrappy agencies, like theirs, will find opportunity. And clients (of all sizes) are now more open to looking at the “forest” in a different way.

After living the majority of their “ad” lives in larger agencies, they saw the opportunity a fresh start would give them during the most prolific pandemic of the 21st century (not to mention the worst downturn Alberta has seen in 30yrs).

Geoff Hardwicke- Owner/Managing Director, Trigger

Having “cut his teeth” with some of the largest multi-nationals in the ad biz, Geoff learned early in his career that account management is about building relationships that increase the odds of ensuring the team meets or exceeds client expectations at all levels. Nothing is more of a team sport than working in the advertising industry – and that’s why Geoff still loves the game, even after close to 30 years playing in it. 

His communications experience on both the agency and client-side help provide a balance perspective to business challenges and the creative solutions they require. He offers a breadth of experience in the automotive, retail, consumer, and telecom fields. Geoff is fueled by results achieved through collaboration and is a strong team player with proven leadership, communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
